AUSTIN – (April 29, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) will hold a Board meeting in Austin at the Stephen F. Austin Building, 1700 North Congress Avenue, Room 170, on May 1, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. The Board will be presenting the 2013 Texas Rain Catcher Awards.
The award recognizes excellence in the application of rainwater harvesting in Texas, promotes the technology, and educates the public. There are four categories in which awards are made: educational, governmental, residential and non-profit/research. The Texas Rain Catcher Awards are an annual award that began in 2007. Since then, TWDB has recognized 22 entities and one individual.
In addition to the Rain Catcher awards, Dr. Robert Mace of TWDB will brief Board members on Texas weather and its influence on drought. Additional staff presentations will provide an overview of the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas and current drought conditions.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
