AUSTIN - (March 17, 2014) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,744,690 to Mooreville Water Supply Corporation (Falls County) consisting of a grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program. The assistance will help to develop a long-term reliable water supply.

By using TWDB’s grant program, Mooreville Water Supply Corporation not only saved over $1.7 million but also the interest charges that would have accrued in a loan. The estimated total cost of principal and interest would have exceeded $2.3 million.

Mooreville Water Supply Corporation’s single water well has failed, leaving the community without a reliable source of water. This grant will help the community develop additional water supplies for its customers. It also plans to use the funds to replace water meters to address water loss issues.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
