Texas Water Development Board approves a $490,000 loan to the Fort Bend County Water Control and Improvement District No. 8 (Fort Bend County) to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (September 19, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $490,000 to the Fort Bend County Water Control and Improvement District No. 8 (Fort Bend County) from the Texas Water Development Fund to finance water system improvements.
The Fort Bend County Water Control and Improvement District No. 8 intends to use the funds to construct a new water well to be used as a backup to its existing water well, and to install an emergency generator at the water plant. The district will also use funds to purchase credits in the City of Richmond's surface water project to meet obligations to the Fort Bend Subsidence District to reduce its use of groundwater.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
