Texas Water Development Board approves a $10,425,000 loan to the City of Edinburg (Hidalgo County) to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (September 19, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $10,425,000 to the City of Edinburg (Hidalgo County) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.
The City of Edinburg intends to use the funds to expand its existing West Water Treatment Plant from 8 million gallons per day to 16 million gallons per day within the existing facility site.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
