AUSTIN - (July 25, 2013) - The Texas Water Infrastructure Coordination Committee (TWICC) will host a one-day drought workshop August 1, 2013, in Abilene, Texas. Representatives from Texas Water Development Board, Texas Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture- Rural Development, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas Rural Water Association and other agencies will share information about funding programs and technical assistance available to drought-affected communities. The free workshop is geared toward public water system officials, their consultants and others who work with communities facing water shortage issues.
The event is limited to the first 100 registrants. Registration information on the drought workshop is available at www.twicc.org.
TWICC is composed of state and federal funding agencies, technical assistance providers, water and waste water trade organizations, and regulatory agencies. TWICC aims to identify and develop solutions to water and wastewater infrastructure compliance issues and to seek affordable, sustainable and innovative funding strategies to protect public health and efficiently use government resources in Texas.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
