Texas Water Development Board approves a $1,815,295 loan to the City of Wortham (Freestone County) to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (May 16, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $1,815,295 to the City of Wortham (Freestone County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $280,000 and $1,535,295 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.

The City of Wortham intends to use the funds to replace old water meters and 18,500 linear feet of deteriorated water lines.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
