Texas Water Development Board approves a $12,406,688 loan to the City of Pharr (Hidalgo County) to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (February 28, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $12,406,688 to the City of Pharr (Hidalgo County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $8,725,000 and $3,681,688 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.

The City of Pharr intends to use the funds to address low pressure problems in its potable water distribution system.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
