Texas Water Development Board approves a $65,000,000 loan to the City of Houston (Harris County) to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (February 28, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $65,000,000 to the City of Houston (Harris County) from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.
The City of Houston intends to use the funds to rehabilitate approximately 600,000 liner feet of sanitary sewer line within the Sims Bayou, Almeda Sims, Keegan's Bayou and Southwest service areas.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
