Texas Water Development Board approves a $1,498,785 loan to the Zavala County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (January 31, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution the amount of $1,498,785 to the Zavala County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (Zavala County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $760,000 and $738,785 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.
The Zavala County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 intends to use the funds to replace aged and undersized water lines and to install gate valves throughout its distribution system. The district seeks funding for planning and design of the entire two-phase project.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
