Texas Water Development Board approves a $533,074 loan to the City of Hondo to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (January 31, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution the amount of $533,074 to the City of Hondo (Medina County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $490,000 and $43,074 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.
The City of Hondo intends to use the funds to increase operational efficiency of the water distribution system and reduce water loss due to deteriorating water lines.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
