Texas Water Development Board approves $90,000 in financial assistance to the City of Silverton to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN (December 6, 2012) The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a grant in the amount of $90,000 to the City of Silverton (Briscoe County) from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to finance water system improvements.

The City of Silverton intends to use the funds to secure an identified tract of land. The proposed property has groundwater that meets the desired quality and quantity needed for the project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
