Texas Water Development Board approves $562,788 in financial assistance to the City of Mount Vernon to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN (December 6, 2012) The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution the amount of $562,788 to the City of Mount Vernon (Franklin County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $525,000 and $37,788 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.

The City of Mount Vernon intends to use the funds to improve the energy efficiency and to install green infrastructure to the wastewater treatment plant.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
