Texas Water Development Board approves a $570,000 grant to the El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (June 21, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a grant in the amount of $570,000 to the El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board (El Paso County) from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) to finance water system improvements.

The El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board intends to use the funds for the construction phase of a new water distribution system to serve an estimated 428 EDAP-eligible residents in the Turf Road area.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
