Texas Water Development Board approves $2,129,896 in loans to the Hidalgo County Municipal Utility District No. 1 to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (April 19, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution loans in the amount of $2,129,896, to the Hidalgo County Municipal Utility District No. 1 (Hidalgo County), consisting of a $1,500,000 loan and $629,896 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance the construction of wastewater system improvements.

The Hidalgo County Municipal Utility District No. 1 wastewater treatment plant needs to expand to meet increased demand for service and more stringent permit limits.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
