The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance totaling $1,600,000 as follows:
- $700,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program for rural state water plan projects, and a $900,000 zero percent interest loan from the Water Infrastructure Fund-Rural Program to the Somervell County Water District (Somervell County) to finance construction of a water supply project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state's water resources. TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
